AoD’s infrastructure and services are based on Citrix technologies. Users can access the system over low-bandwidth, high-latency data connections, and using lower specification workstations. This is because all the processing and data management is done on the secure AoD infrastructure. To you, the programs look and feel like they are running locally on your PC but you are actually seeing a ‘window’ onto AoD providing a hassle-free and secure experience.
Reduced capital costs
Reduced application support costs
Pay per-use and subscription based price flexibility
Continuous infrastructure upgrades
Trouble free application software upgrades
Elimination of backup procedures and issues
Wider choice for users of the workstations that can be used to access the applications software.
More end device options (iPad, Apple, etc.)
Additional redundancy, data integrity and security at a lower cost that can be provided internally
Real time ‘shadow’ support and training benefits for supported applications
General applications like MS Office or a business management solution like Greentree operate like a dream on AoD. AoD may also run other applications or systems that require a ‘centralised’ nature, and gain all of the other benefits that are provided to AoD users.
For support or training, Addax can ‘shadow’ client sessions. If a client is having a problem accessing an invoice or using MS Excel, our consultants can connect to the client session, view the activity and action on the screen, advise the client and even take control of the mouse and keyboard to show the client how to resolve issues.
Cloud Computing is a new buzz term that is being used to describe applications hosted in ‘the Cloud’. Because it is only recently that the idea has become mainstream, relatively few organisations are actually capable of delivering cloud hosted services. However AoD has been commercially used since 2004, long before the term Cloud Computing was coined. And our very first customers used our service to access their centralized Greentree business system across continents using satellite communications. So for us, Cloud Computing is tried, tested, and very well proven.
Most hosting providers will tell you that it does not matter where you data is located, if it is in the Cloud then it can be accessed from anywhere. In many, in fact most, instances this is probably true however our AoD service has the maturity and experience to know where the boundaries are. There are times, for legal or technical reasons, it can be very important where your data is geographically located. As such, we are able to host your data in an elastic cloud where your data is geographically located in the best available position.
Software as a Service or SaaS, along with all the variants of SaaS have a nasty catch to them. Your data is locked into a hosted solution. AoD is different.
The Greentree licences and all your data is truly yours. With minimal effort, should you decide that a hosted option is not for you, then in a matter of hours we will transfer your system from AoD to your IT Infrastructure. You already own the Greentree licences and the data, so there are no additional licence fees – you do of course need a suitable IT Infrastructure and server to receive your system.
In fact, this process is so flexible it can be a two-way process. Using AoD, we could host a live, hot backup copy of your Greentree system so that in the event you have a catastrophic failure on your self-managed IT Platform, your business system will be safe and available for immediate use from AoD. The ‘hot backup’ means that this is done with no loss of data because as you use your Greentree business system it is updating the backup version on AoD.
